小学生の頃の私は思ったものだ。当時、少年キングに連載されていたが、他の少年マンガ雑誌より大人っぽい雰囲気を醸しており、これを手にしていることはちょっと背伸びした感があった。メーテルは少年鉄郎にとっての女神であり、美の象徴であり、憧れの大人の女性、自分を大人に導いてくれる女性であった。そんなメーテルのキャラを損なうことなく(汚すことなく)描いている本作品の良さに感服!
