ランス・クエストというタイトルだが、説明文にもある通りシリーズ8作目です。単体でも充分に楽しめる作りとなっているが、ゲームプレイにより深みを持たせるため過去作もプレイすることをお勧めします。
また、今作は個人的には尻切れトンボのような感想を抱きましたが、アペンドディスクを購入し導入することで楽しさが数倍になります。
