ライセンスを買わないといい兵器が使えない。地上戦に勝たない限りは惑星を占領できないなどといったシステムの変更がいいほうに作用した結果、シリーズの中でもかなりやりがいのある作品に仕上がったのではないかと思います。
操作性がやや悪い点など、これまでのシリーズの欠点がそのままなところもありますが、そういう点を差し引いても楽しめる作品です。
